Frequently asked questions
How much can we realistically save?
It depends entirely on how the environment was built and how long since anyone reviewed it. Estates that have never been optimised usually have significant waste; well-run ones less. The analysis phase puts a specific, evidenced number on it for your environment before you commit to any changes.
Will optimisation slow anything down?
Not if it is done properly. Right-sizing is based on observed utilisation with headroom, changes are made one at a time with monitoring in place, and every change is reversible. Performance is a constraint, not a casualty.
Should we buy reserved capacity?
Only for the part of your usage that is genuinely stable, and only once the environment has been right-sized, otherwise you lock in the waste. We size commitments on actual usage history and show the break-even before you buy.
Do we need a FinOps tool?
Usually not to start. The cloud providers' native cost tools cover most needs for a growing business. We recommend third-party tooling only when the estate is large or multi-cloud enough to justify it.
How do you charge for this?
As a scoped engagement for the analysis and remediation, and as part of the monthly fee for managed-service clients. We are transparent about the savings we expect before you commit.
